Sacudimento
and Ebós
Sacudimento and Ebós are profound
works of cleansing of negative energy providing a clean slate for the recipient
free of obstacles and hindrances to their life path. These cleansing practices come from the
tradition of Condomblé in Brazil. They
are practices of cleansing that are done with the forces of nature. In these works these forces of nature, also
called Orixás together with the Ialorixá cleanse away all negative energy and
all negative beings.
The tradition of Condomblé in Brazil
has its roots in the Yoruban people of Africa.
In this tradition it is understood that together with the creation of
heavens and the earth also came the Orixás.
The Orixás are the forces of nature, they are a pure essence made
entirely of love, each with its own quality according to the aspect of nature
that they are. For instance, Yemanjá is
the Queen of the sea, she rules over all the salt water. She is the ocean. She is the crash of the white crested
waves. She is the abundance of fish and
living creatures. She is the mystery of
the deep. She is the intangible feeling
that overcomes so many who flock to her beaches to relax and to heal. She is all these things and more. The same is true for all the Orixás. Oxossi and the forests, Xango and the mountains, Oxum and the rivers and waterfalls, Iansa the winds and lightning storms and in
this way each Orixá with its own quality and dominion.
It is also understood that each person
is born not only as biological children but also as spiritual children of two
parent Orixás and other godparent Orixás.
It is our relationship to our parent Orixás that explain in us such
affinities to aspects of nature, for instance children of Oxossi have an
special affinity to the forest, children of Oxum to sweetwaters, rivers and
waterfalls and like this for all the different Orixás.
A Sacudimento must be understood in
this context to have two qualities. One
is that of cleasing away all negative energy and negative beings the other is
that of realigning the recipient with the forces of nature. The cleansing clarifies and purifies the
recipient preparing them to receive the energies of their Orixás. The Sacudimento has the effect of removing
obstacles and blockages as well as drawing out and amplifying the recipients
latent creative natural energies and capacities.
At this particular moment in our
history there is no real spiritualized understanding in our culture
generally. This creates an enviroment
where those that are making their journey from the earthly life do not have the
spiritual preparation to arrive where they need to go. The result is an extreme amount of eguns,
beings with out light, suffering beings that are wandering through our world,
in our houses, in our cars and in our places of work. This is making the earth a more difficult
place to navigate spiritually and energetically.
In addition to the lack of spiritual
preparation for those leaving their earthly life there is also a lack of
preparation for those who remain incarnate on earth. Our culture, generally speaking, has no way
of processing or dealing with the disturbing presence of negative suffering
beings. As a result there is an increase
in depression, drug addiction and suicide, much of which is aggravated or even
directly caused by the presence of negative suffering beings. And for those that are not taken into
depression or a similar state can still have their life path and life mission
severely hindered by the influence of negative energy and negative beings.
These cleansing practices and ancient
indigenous spiritual wisdom that has been preserved for us are an invaluable
resource for those living in modern culture.
It is a resource that provides an oportunity to cleanse onself of the
epidemic of ungrounded negative energy and learn to maintain and defend ones
energetic purity and connection to the divine living source.
