Umbanda
The School of Life
The teachings of Caboclo Mirim

I speak of true humility. It is not a matter of self-depreciation nor self-promotion. Whoever is saying all the time that they are a humble person, “very” humble, obedient, too small, too this or that, that person is not practicing humility, but it is false. Those who practice true humility, which consists of forgetting yourself, simply do not talk about themselves or try to “be humble.”  Likewise, they do not compare themselves to others, they are not victims and they face obstacles with ease. A humble person accepts the challenges of life with courage and without revolt, not avoiding responsibilities under the pretext that they are “too small and humble” to take on challenges. A humble person acts simply the best way possible, doing what must be done. All this may sound simple, but it is not. The ideal is to do it naturally, without effort.
